Service Description
Supporting individuals with dysphagia requires knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to help reduce the risks associated with eating, drinking, and swallowing difficulties. Our Dysphagia Awareness and IDDSI Training course is designed for health and social care organisations supporting individuals who require modified diets, thickened fluids, or specialist swallowing support. This interactive course provides delegates with a practical understanding of dysphagia, aspiration risks, choking prevention, and the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) Framework. By the end of the course, delegates will be able to: • Describe what dysphagia is and its potential causes • Recognise common signs and symptoms of swallowing difficulties • Identify risks associated with aspiration, choking, malnutrition, and dehydration • Understand the principles of the IDDSI Framework • Recognise IDDSI food and drink levels • Support safer eating, drinking, and swallowing • Understand the importance of positioning and mealtime support • Recognise the role of oral care in reducing aspiration risks • Escalate concerns appropriately and follow organisational procedures Course Duration 3.5 to 4Hours Delegate Numbers Minimum: 4 Maximum: 12* *Maximum delegate numbers may vary depending on venue size and available facilities. Cancellation Policy
For online courses: 24 hours notice For face-to-face courses: If you cancel the course at any time then you must inform us as soon as possible via email. You will have to pay a cancellation charge calculated in accordance with the table below (“the Cancellation Charge”) in addition to an administration fee of £50.00 (“the Administration Fee”). Cancellation Charges are necessary because cancellations cost Us money but We will only require You to pay a reasonable sum to reimburse Us for Our lost revenue. The time before the proposed date of course that we receive notification of cancellation Cancellation Charge as a percentage of the balance of the Fees Less than 2 weeks 100% Between 2 and 4 weeks 50% Longer than 4 weeks 0% Within 7 days of the notice of cancellation being given to us, we will either:- Return to you the balance of the Fees, having deducted the Administration Fee and the applicable Cancellation Charge where you had paid the Fees to us in accordance prior to giving notice to cancel the Course; or Invoice you for the balance of the Cancellation Charge and the Administration Fee where you had not paid the Fees prior to giving notice to cancel the Course. hello@slanjavalearning.co.uk
